With 3M’s new technology, the grade/grit of the abrasive varies compared to the previous grade/grit based off the old part numbers. The newer discs are more aggressive which allows the new 40 grit to cut like the old 24 grit. The newer, more aggressive design has a self-sharpening mineral allowing the disc to last longer.
